Drawing influence from a diverse range of artists and genres, Nightset is the collaborative project from Sydney artists Sonny Grin and Kats. Both working session musicians and staples in the Sydney scene, Alec Brinsmead (Sonny Grin) and Casper Tromp (Kats), met playing in the backing band for Spanish RnB Pop singer ANGE. The two quickly became friends and found a shared love for improvised music and electronic production.

Their collaborative releases in 2020; “Lungs”, “Joy Dive/Night Drive” and “You Know Somethin’” saw the pair amass over a 100,000 streams on Spotify, editorial playlisting and recieve national and international radio play. Coming together under the new name Nightset in 2021, the duo put out their debut single “Entry” to a warm reception from their growing fan base.

Nightset’s second single, “You Don’t Know Me” continues on from the free flowing, improvised style of dance composition of “Entry”, but with lasting moments of melodic goodness. With catchy vocal samples and a smooth, disco inspired groove, “You Don’t Know Me” highlights the duo’s song-writing sensibility, while also staying true to their live instrumentation style of production.
